How to Level Up Your Brand with a Website Redesign

by | Feb 25, 2019

Girl, you are killing it in your biz, so why does your website still look like a DIY project gone wrong, straight outta 2012? You are awesome, but let’s face it, your website is not.

It’s time to make your website work for you but I’m guessing you’re a little embarrassed and don’t even want to send people to your site because you know it’s just not you. It doesn’t capture all of your magic. Let’s not even talk about how it’s not bringing you customers!

If that sounds like you, you are in desperate need of a website redesign. Here’s what do next.

Level up your brand with a website redesign

Assess what exactly isn’t working for you on your website.

Most of the issues people have with a poor performing website are not just design related but are really just a result of poor planning and strategy. If you don’t plan your website with the end in mind, it will just end up being a hot mess. Here are some examples of issues that might be happening on your site that are a result of poor planning:

  • Your latest blog post was written over a year ago
  • Your services or pricing page is inaccurate
  • Your pages aren’t clearly organized or are confusing to navigate
  • You have broken links on your site or pages that show no content
  • Your content speaks all about me, me, me
  • Your website isn’t mobile friendly
  • Your visitors aren’t inspired and bounce
  • You aren’t getting inquiries or engagement for your offers or services

Do any of those sound familiar? Thought so. But having these types of problems don’t make you a bad person or a failure at your biz, it just means there is room to improve your site to bring it to the next level. Ok, so how do we do that?

Make a plan to address your website issues in order of priority.

Once you have an idea of what’s not working, we can start to create a plan that fixes those problems. Depending on what problems your website has, this could look different for everyone. Assign a level of importance to each of these items and create a to-do list for your website redesign fixes that you want to implement.

For example…

…If your content is outdated or not sending the right message, you might want to hire a copywriter to help craft conversion-focused copy. Of course, there is always the option to write your own website copy, but most people find that intimidating or at the very least, difficult to write in a way that puts their audience first and themselves second.

…If you can’t ever seem to find the time to blog, you may want to assess if having a blog is even worth the return. If you really value the importance of SEO, you may want to choose to outsource blogging so that you can focus on what you do best but still reap all the benefits from Google search for publishing frequent and fresh content.

…If you can’t seem to hold your visitor’s attention or get them to engage by downloading your offers or reaching out to you, your design might be the culprit. With so many cheap pre-fab website templates out there, it’s tempting to want to apply a quick fix to the design but wouldn’t that be one of the things that got you into this mess in the first place? Look at hiring a professional designer to help you with your website redesign. They can create something custom and beautiful, made just for you. Don’t skimp – just do your homework and make a smart investment and you will thank yourself later.

ready for a new website?

Hold up a second. I’m starting to sense a pattern…

OK, so what do all of these website fixes have in common? You guessed it. Hiring someone else to do the work…And not just anyone, but an EXPERT. I’m not talking about someone from Fiverr or your sister’s friend’s cousin, I’m talking about someone who really knows their stuff. If you take your business seriously, you have to be willing to invest in it when the time calls for it.

When you were just starting out, you could get away with doing ALL THE THINGS yourself, but now that you’ve grown, things are changing. Trying to do everything isn’t serving your business well. Wouldn’t you rather be spending your time and energy on what you love instead of these other things? Upfront it may cost money, but ultimately it’s an investment that brings the money back to you.
